The 23-month full-time asynchronous online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree is a clinical focused program designed to prepare advanced practice registered nurses at the highest level of nursing practice. The DNP is a terminal degree within the profession of nursing that prepares advanced practice registered nurses for the complex and rapidly changing healthcare environment. Roseman University’s DNP block curriculum builds on the traditional MSN education received as an advanced practice registered nurse, with a focus on evidenced-based care, quality improvement, safety, informatics, ethics, systems leadership, and access to care for populations. Graduates of this program will be prepared to be leaders within the healthcare field, assuring the delivery of safe and quality care by filling a growing need for highly skilled advanced practice registered nurses.

- Current unencumbered RN or APRN license from one of the 50 U.S. States or Territories.
- MSN degree or a post master’s certificate as an advanced practice nurse from an approved accredited nursing program.
- Students are required to obtain official documentation or letter from the MSN/advanced practice program that they attended clearly denoting the total number of clinical hours completed (a minimum 500 hours is required).
- Three letters of professional recommendation, written within the last 3 months, indicating the reviewer’s support of the student’s ability to successfully complete a demanding DNP graduate level academic program. At least one recommendation should come from a current or recent supervisor. Areas addressed within the recommendation should include:
- How long the individual has known the applicant and in what capacity
- An evaluation of the applicants skills and abilities that would support their success in a DNP program
- Applicants leadership abilities
- Professionalism (specific behaviors/characteristics)
- Applicants written and verbal communication skills and ability to work autonomously
- Other key attributes that the applicant possesses that may not be evident in the application materials (i.e. a great listener, interests outside of work, a sense of humor, etc.)
- A summary capturing the student’s overall abilities to successfully complete a DNP graduate program
- A personal statement about one’s motivation for wanting to attend the DNP program, expectations of the DNP program, attributes possessed that will help you succeed in a fast paced learning environment, and future career goals as a DNP graduate. This statement should be in a professional presentation that includes paragraph format, 12 point Times New Roman font, double spaced, with 1 inch margins. There is a limit of 5 pages. This statement should provide the committee with:
- An understanding of why you are choosing Roseman University College of Nursing DNP program
- Your comprehension and expectations of the DNP degree
- Plans upon completion of the DNP degree
- How your past experiences will support you in pursuing a DNP degree. Examples of past experiences include work experience, volunteer activities, educational background, and other relevant acquired skills (i.e. fluency in languages)
- Face-to-face interview, including a "Zoom" option

DNP students are required to seek their own facilities for practicum hours which are part of the scholarly project

Practicum hours can be completed anywhere in the United States
This is a writing intensive program, however there are several resources available to students to facilitate their success. This includes the Roseman University of Health Sciences library which provides many services and resources to support the DNP student in their evidence-based research and completion of their scholarly projects.
The College of Nursing Research & Learning Librarian provides library instruction and research support to all nursing students via the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), online consultations, phone, email and in person. Library resources, interactive tutorials, online guides, and instruction modules are also embedded in the Canvas LMS.
